Visiting RUMA

What is RUMA?

RUMA (RUMA Wellness) is a wellness brand in Charlotte, NC that hosts pop-up yoga, Pilates, mobility, breathwork and sound-bath classes at selected local spaces, with booking in English and Spanish. It's built around movement, restoration, nourishment, mindfulness and community, so that feeling well becomes a way of life.

Where are RUMA classes and events held?

RUMA classes and events are held at selected pop-up spaces in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding area, and we always email you the exact location before class. While we prepare our permanent home, RUMA is coming to you.

Is RUMA available in Spanish?

Yes: some RUMA classes are guided in Spanish and some are bilingual (English and Spanish), marked En español or Bilingual on the schedule. The website, booking and emails are all available in Spanish too: choose ES at the top of any page and we'll remember it. See bilingual yoga and Pilates for the upcoming classes in Spanish.

I've never done yoga or Pilates before. Can I still come?

Yes, beginners are welcome at RUMA. Many classes are created with beginners in mind, and every class shows its experience level before you book, so you never need to arrive already knowing what you're doing. Come as you are — there's space for you here, exactly where you're starting from.

Are all RUMA classes beginner-friendly?

Not every RUMA class is designed for beginners, so each class page shows its experience level before you reserve. Look for the Experience Level, or reach out to us and we'll be happy to help you choose the right place to begin.

What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive, we welcome you, check you in and show you where to go. If it's your first visit, simply let us know: we'll help you get settled, answer any questions and make sure you have what you need.

I'm nervous about my first class. What should I know?

You don't need experience, flexibility or to keep up with anyone at a RUMA class. Listen to your body, take breaks when you need them, and let your instructor guide you.

You are expected. You are welcome. We prepared a place for you. Come as you are.

How early should I arrive?

Arrive 10–15 minutes before your class begins. That gives you time to find the space, check in and settle in without rushing.

What should I wear?

Wear anything you can move in comfortably: clothing that lets you breathe, stretch and move freely. There is no RUMA dress code and nothing you need to look a certain way for.

What should I bring?

Mostly, just yourself: RUMA provides the equipment for your class unless your class details say otherwise. Bring water if you'd like, although water and RUMA drinks are also available at our experiences, along with select RUMA Baked items.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

No, you don't need to bring a yoga mat. If your class uses one, we'll have it ready for you.

We saved you a mat.

Is equipment provided?

Yes, RUMA provides the equipment your class needs, unless your booking details specifically say otherwise. We want arriving at RUMA to feel simple.

Do I need grip socks?

Only some Pilates classes recommend or require grip socks, and we'll let you know before class if yours does. RUMA Grip Socks will also be available for purchase when appropriate.

What if I have an injury, limitation, or need an accommodation?

Tell us before class about any injury, limitation or accommodation you need. Speak with your instructor when you arrive or contact RUMA ahead of time so we can understand what you need and how we can best support your experience.

Is RUMA accessible?

Accessibility depends on the venue, because RUMA currently hosts experiences at different locations. If you need a particular accommodation, please contact us before booking or attending: we'll confirm the details of the venue and help however we reasonably can.

Can I use my phone during class?

Please keep your phone silent and tucked away during class. Think of your time at RUMA as a small opportunity to step away from everything asking for your attention. It will all still be there when you leave.

What if I'm running late?

Late entry may not be possible once a class has begun, depending on the class and the venue. Check the late-arrival details for your experience and contact us when you can; we understand that days don't always go according to plan.

Can I come alone?

Yes, absolutely: you never need to bring someone with you to belong at RUMA. Come alone, bring a friend, meet someone new, or simply enjoy the time to yourself. RUMA was built around the idea that wellness can be both personal and shared.

What happens after class?

There's no need to rush away after class. Take a moment, hydrate, enjoy something from RUMA when available, talk with someone you met, or simply carry the quiet with you. The practice may end, but feeling well is meant to follow you into the rest of your day.
