Welcome

Before you arrive.

Everything you need to know. Nothing you need to worry about.

Your visit, gently

Your booking details carry everything specific to your experience. Here is what's true for every one of them.

  1. A woman in a loose linen top and trousers stretching her arms up against a white wall
    What to wear

    Whatever you can move in.

Comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Choose something that lets you breathe and stretch. There is no RUMA dress code.

  2. Someone seated on a wooden bench, barefoot, resting a rolled yoga mat beside a plant
    What to bring

    Mostly, just yourself.

Water if you'd like, and anything listed in your class details. Some Pilates experiences may recommend grip socks; if so, we'll tell you before class.

  3. Mats and cork blocks laid out in a row on a wooden floor, a warm lamp glowing at the end
    What we provide

    Everything else.

The equipment your practice needs, unless your booking says otherwise. If a mat is needed, we'll have one ready for you. At many experiences you'll also find water, RUMA drinks and select RUMA Baked treats.

  4. A single candle burning in a dark room
    When to arrive

    10–15 minutes before.

Enough time to find us, check in, get comfortable and leave the day behind, without rushing. Late entry may not always be possible once an experience has begun.

  5. Late sun falling through tall windows across an empty room with a brick wall and wooden floor
    Where to go

    We email it before class.

RUMA gathers at thoughtfully selected spaces around Charlotte and the surrounding area while we prepare our permanent home. We always email you the exact location, and any arrival notes for the venue, before class.

  6. An instructor gently guiding a student's hips in a low lunge on a mat
    Your instructor

    Someone who'll learn your name.

Tell your instructor if it's your first time, and about any injury, limitation or pregnancy. They'll guide you from there, with options, never pressure.

  7. A woman resting on her side on a mat, head on a block, eyes closed
    Your experience

    Yours, at your pace.

There is no expectation to move perfectly, know every position, or keep up with anyone else. Take what you need. Rest when you need to. Phones stay silent and tucked away, so the time is truly yours.

Your first time

The only thing we really want you to know

You do not need to know what you're doing before you arrive.

Come comfortable. Arrive 10–15 minutes early. Tell us it's your first time, and we'll guide you from there. There is no expectation to move perfectly, know every position, or keep up with anyone else.

This is your practice. Take what you need. Move at your pace. Ask questions. Rest when you need to.

A few first questions

I'm nervous about my first class. What should I know?

You don't need experience, flexibility or to keep up with anyone at a RUMA class. Listen to your body, take breaks when you need them, and let your instructor guide you.

You are expected. You are welcome. We prepared a place for you. Come as you are.

I've never done yoga or Pilates before. Can I still come?

Yes, beginners are welcome at RUMA. Many classes are created with beginners in mind, and every class shows its experience level before you book, so you never need to arrive already knowing what you're doing. Come as you are — there's space for you here, exactly where you're starting from.

What if I have an injury, limitation, or need an accommodation?

Tell us before class about any injury, limitation or accommodation you need. Speak with your instructor when you arrive or contact RUMA ahead of time so we can understand what you need and how we can best support your experience.

What if I'm running late?

Late entry may not be possible once a class has begun, depending on the class and the venue. Check the late-arrival details for your experience and contact us when you can; we understand that days don't always go according to plan.

Can I come alone?

Yes, absolutely: you never need to bring someone with you to belong at RUMA. Come alone, bring a friend, meet someone new, or simply enjoy the time to yourself. RUMA was built around the idea that wellness can be both personal and shared.

How do cancellations work?

You can cancel a reservation from My RUMA; what comes back depends on how far ahead you cancel. If you paid for an experience on its own: 48 hours or more ahead, a full refund; 24 to under 48 hours, 50%; under 24 hours, no refund. Before it begins you can always choose RUMA credit instead, and a no-show counts as used. Our team issues refunds by hand for now, so after canceling, write to us with your choice. The full details are in our cancellation policy.

Cancel up to 24 hours before class and we return your credit. Inside that window, the cancellation counts as late and the credit isn't returned.
